Nestled in the southwestern part of Vietnam, the Mekong Delta (also known as the Southwest, Mekong, or the West) is the southernmost region of the country and one of two parts of the South. It is a sprawling network of rivers, swamps, and islands that forms a crucial part of Vietnam’s cultural and economic tapestry.

The Mekong Delta has a total area of 40,577.6 km² and a total population of 17,744,947 people as of 2022. It consists of one centrally run city, Can Tho, and 12 provinces: Long An, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Hau Giang, Soc Trang, Dong Thap, An Giang, Kien Giang, Bac Lieu, and Ca Mau.
